So, here is one of my stories about getting stopped during a road trip!

My husband and I are driving in Jalisco, Mexico on a main city highway.

We are driving and suddenly we hit stopped traffic. We slowly detoured around the street to a street that runs beside it.

Then we saw why we were stopped before!!

BEER! 🍺

Yes, beer! And lots of it!🍺🍺🍺

A transport truck carrying case and cases of Coronas!

He merged onto a lower side road that dipped down.  While lowering the beers pushed open the tied down wall closure of the truck.

More than 50% of the cases of beer fell on the ground!  My husband and I watched as we slowly went by.

We saw many people on the street picking up bottles of beer.

We even saw people running down the street with CASES of beer.

So, we parked on a side road and went for a closer taste… I mean look! 😉 🍻

The police were allowing anyone to pick up the beer off the road!

Yes, there were a lot of broken bottles, but also lots that were not broken at all.

We saw people getting taxis to take home their 12 cases of beer that they picked up!!

We ended up grabbing a case of beer and continuing on our way!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Apparently, to stop us from driving.

Well, this time it was not chickens, although we have literally had a chicken stop us from driving! lol!

Live music & dancing!

Now, I don’t mean a planned street festival.

I mean some people decided to have a party and just did it in the middle of the road.

So, a 15 piece band, tubas and all, set up and played while people danced in front of them.

All in the middle of the road.

So, we decided to join them!

It was a fun night!

Everyone just accepted it, even the garbage trucks (yes, they come at night) just detoured around the party.

They even set up an outdoor cooking station on the side of the road.   They were cooking a big pot of meat for tacos.

Dancing Horses!

This was really interesting.  We parked the car and enjoyed for hours!!

It’s called Charreada.  It is basically a show with dancing horses and music.

There was a long parade complete with several live bands and so many horses and riders!

Some of the horses had fancy hair styles and sometimes even costumes.

We ended up following along side of the parade. At the end they stopped and had more performances on the street with the bands.

What an interesting surprise!

Processions

Peregrination

There are many processions that happen in different places around the world.

This particular one is for the Virgin of Guadalupe.  It happens every December.

People come from all around Mexico, some of them walking for days to get there.

I absolutely loved seeing the traditional Indigenous clothing and dances!

They stop and do their traditional songs and dances, then continue walking and repeat this process during the parade.
