Pack for a great weekend away

If you want to make your weekend getaway great, check this out my ideas, items and lists of what to pack for a great weekend away!

Now, this is not the type of blog that’s going to tell you how many pairs of socks to pack, it’s more about making sure you have fun and are comfortable.

My goal is help you with what to pack for a GREAT weekend away!

You will notice that this travel blog is not limited to just flights, this blog is for weekend road trips, travel by train, bus and really any weekend getaway!

Make it a Great Weekend Away

Whether it’s a solo mission, family trip, boy’s or girl’s weekend getaway, I have you covered.

Perhaps it’s a couples weekend, either way, this list will help you to be ready for an anything-goes fun weekend away.

Choosing the right Weekender Bags

Having the right bag matters. It’s the difference between easily fitting everything in an organized way, and not being able to fit or find what you need.

For me I like to be organized, so I prefer a bag with pockets or sections.

This purple weekender duffle bag with toiletry bag is great because it comes with a shoulder strap, handles and a luggage sleeve to put over your handle of your bigger luggage.

It has lots of pockets and a spot for shoes etc. It even has a laptop padded pocket and side pockets for water, an umbrella, your tickets or passport etc.  You even get a matching toiletry bag too!

This blue under the seat carry on has so many great pockets too!  This one will fit under most airplane seats too.  One thing that I really like about this one is that it’s on wheels and has an extendable handle for carrying it.

There is also a tie down strap in the main part so your clothes stay put as you open your bag.

It also has a sleeve so you can put it on top of a bigger bag if you needed to and it’s water resistant too.

The beige weekender bag with shoe compartment is great because of all of the compartments and the size.

It also has a sleeve to fit over a luggage handle with a pocket to hold a passport or something like that.

There is a laptop pocket and a separate bottom pocket that’s big to fit shoes or toiletries.

It comes with a matching toiletry bag too.

The backpack on wheels with packing cubes is great because it transforms into either a suitcase or a backpack.

It has 2 wheels and a retractable handle, or you can upzip the flap on the back and use the backpack handles to carry it on your back.

It also has so many compartments and pockets. Can you tell that I like pockets in my luggage?!

There are 2 packing cubes and 1 toiletry bag that match included too.

Carry on Bags

Need something a bit bigger? Here are some other options for you.

These carry on bags are bigger in case you like to pack extra.

If you’re looking for hands-free convenience, check out this carry on with cup & phone holder

If your weekend getaway involves a train, bus, ferry or plane, I recommend this carry on!

It actually comes in 2 carry on sizes and 1 checked luggage size.

There is a USB port and a cell phone holder by it, so you can charge your device.

Insider there are pockets to put shoes or other things in too.

This hard shell carry on with front compartment has tie down straps, lots of space, and my favourite, a front compartment for your laptop or other things that you want to protect and access easily.

Of course, I highly recommend checking the weather for where you’re headed.

It can help make your weekend more enjoyable and comfortable when you pack clothes that match the weather.

It’s no fun when you’re cold and have nothing warm to put on, or maybe you’re headed somewhere tropical, but there’s going to be a lot of rain. Wouldn’t it be nice to be prepared and comfortable for it.

Also, think of what you plan on doing and what you will need for those activities or events.

Do you need hiking gear, good walking shoes, sunblock, cooler, games, etc.?

Bring the fun for your weekend away

I like to pack a wireless and waterproof speaker. Nothing gets a party or good times started quicker than some great tunes!

It is shock proof, dust proof and impact-resistant, which is important if you’re travelling with it!

The battery lasts for up to 20 hours of your favourite travel tunes!  Get your travel playlist ready to go!

If you really want to bring the fun, pack this inflatable serving bar and cooler!

You can fill it with ice and add your favourite drinks, a fruit bar or other types of food.

There is even a drain plug to let the water out of the cooler.

Imagine this floating around the pool or beach with your tunes blasting!

Whatever your style is, and no matter where you will go, you may want to chill and play some fun table games.

Whether you’re looking to party with this giant tower party game with hidden shots.  You take a blocks out and try to put them on the top and build the tower as high as you can.

Maybe Minute of Fun Party Game Challenges is more your style.  Actually, it comes with 237 different challenges and a lot of fun props and supplies. There are the makings of beer pong or flip cup with the supplies too!

This 20 oz tumber comes with a straw, lid to keep out bugs and prevent spilling. It also comes a little brush to clean your straw too.

For me, it’s the message on the cup that makes it awesome for a great weekend away!

Here are some more fun party tumblers!

This wine tumbler is one example, there are also tequila, whiskey and vodka ones at the fun party tumblers page.  Cheers!

Organize your things

I find that being organized while travelling prevents things from being broken or getting lost.

It should be easy to find what you need when you need it.  I want to spend my time enjoying my travels, not looking for things I can’t find.  Where did I pack those socks or earrings?

That’s why I always pack these organizers.

Especially if you have a fancy or romantic weekend away, you may want to pack some jewelry.  This velvet jewelry box comes in all different colours.  It has a little mirror, so you can check your earrings or necklace while travelling.

There’s a section to hang necklaces separately so they’re less likely to get tangled. Also, there’s also a spot for rings and other jewelry like earrings.

It zips closed and has a divider in the middle. This is where the mirror is, so it shouldn’t break while travelling.

Also, I have the blue set of this 8-piece packing cube set.

There a lot of different colours that you can pick from for this set.

I really like this set for its variety.  Inside the set there are:

  • 3 larger bags that are different sizes with mesh so you can see which clothing is inside easily
  • a laundry bag with a draw string
  • a toiletry bag with 4 pockets inside
  • a zippered small bag for documents (I put my passport, tickets, boarding pass etc. in it)
  • a cube that you can’t see through – no mesh
  • a zippered shoe bag so that you won’t get dirt from your shoes on any of your clothing

If you want some packing tips for your carry on, you can check them in my Ultimate Carry on Packing Tips.

This toiletry bag has elastic straps inside to stop your liquid bottles from tipping or moving out of place.

It’s water resistant and has a hook so you can hang it on a towel rack.  There are 4 different compartments to store things.

I feel that there is more than enough room. In the small zippered pockets I put things like band-aids and q-tips.

There are lots of compartments, so shower stuff can go in 1 area, while make up or face creams can go in another.

To fill this toiletry bag, I put smaller containers in it from this 17 piece toiletry set.

I know… you’re thinking these aren’t fun and great items for a weekend away, but if your shampoo spilled on your clothes or your speaker that would probably impact your weekend away in a negative way.

The point, sometimes it’s about prevention of problems, so you don’t have to stop the fun.

Make it comfortable and convenient

If your weekend involves some drinks or packing food, you may want to bring this collapsible rolling cooler.  It’s leak proof and has -get this- all terrain wheels for the beach or camping trips!

The handle extends like luggage to help save your back as your lugging 50 cans of beer or whatever you choose to fill it with.  You can take it on or off of the carrying stand.

If you are going somewhere where you will be outdoors, you may want to pack this foldable table with 4 cup holders.

It’s great for playing cards, board games, eating or just sitting and chilling with a drink and some good company!  There’s a shelf underneath for folding extra things that you may need.

Be comfy!

I mean… come on! Who doesn’t want to chill in one of these!!

To make it even better, it’s called Chillbo Schwaggins! lol!

You don’t need a pump either, you just run around let the air fill it, even that sounds hilarious!

It can fit 4 people, or you can just lay back and keep it all to yourself!

It folds up in a bag, it’s not the smallest and most compact, but great for a road trip.

If you want something with more support you can get this padded oversized chair.

It has a side pocket for your drink and a little mesh pocket inside for your keys or other items that you want to keep close by.

Obviously, these are not recommended for a flight, but if you’re on a weekend road trip away, these could add to your fun and comfort!

More Active Weekend Away

If you want to have an active weekend, here are some fun games that could go great on a road trip!

This Spike Ball set comes apart and packs into a carrying bag, so you can take it if you’re on a weekend getaway by car.

The net comes apart and fits in the bag that you can see in the picture, so it’s portable.

You get 3 spike balls with this set. I have played it in my friend’s backyard, and it’s super fun!

This portable washer toss set comes in a wooden carrying box when the 2 sides latch together.

You can put the pieces inside and it’s ready to go.  There is a carrying handle too.

This game is great if your spending part of your weekend away outside.  It’s one of the ultimate camping games!

Chill Relaxed Weekend Away

Maybe your weekend away involves a little TLC and relaxation.

I’ve got some ideas to pamper yourself and enjoy chilling.

This 24 kt gold under eye patches comes in a pack of 30, so it’s great for a girls weekend away.

What says great more than 24 karat gold! lol!

They are individually packed, so if you’re having a solo weekend away or couple’s weekend, you only need to pack as many as you want.

Also, there is this set of 14 face masks that has 6 different styles of face masks to help you get some pampered spa vibes on your great weekend away.

The types of face masks are:

  • destressing
  • calming
  • pore tightening
  • hydrating
  • brightening
  • firming

So you can put one on and get ‘sheet faced’ as the product says! lol!

The Essentials

Don’t forget the basics so that you have everything that you need and want for your great weekend away.
