There are different companies that offer snorkelling gear at this beach. They also offer lockers with a key that you keep on your wrist for 50 pesos.
You get a life jacket when you snorkel because the water is not deep and the coral reef is directly below you, so you must stay floating at the top of the water so that you don’t hurt yourself or damage the coral reef.
The water is incredibly clear and very calm. The waves are not strong, like the waves in Puerto Escondido beaches. You can see so many fish just looking down. You can clearly see your feet on the sand in the water.
The marine life is incredible!
You may see turtles, manta rays, a large variety of colourful fish, star fish and much more!
I actually saw a little crab go by me as I was in swimming in the water by the shore, as well as a variety of fish.
There are hills surrounding the beach and trees. It is not a very big beach, so it has a more intimate feel, there is a spot on the side that is for boats to come to shore. There is a life guard on duty that keeps people clear of the boat launch area.
I asked if there are jellyfish there, after getting stung by a type of jellyfish at a different beach, I wanted to know!
Nope, there aren’t any jellyfish there as it’s not as opened as some other beaches.
Even the birds are very interesting here. There is a bird called a chachalaca, which is like a flying chicken-type of bird that makes this loud noise. There are also some very beautifully coloured birds in the area!
